Truck Accessories Insider is your way to knowing the "inside" information about Ford Truck Accessories. I'm Ivan Smith and have been in the Ford Truck Accessory business for 24 years. When you pull that new Ford into a dealership (better be careful) or a Mom and Pop accessory store you will be the "informed consumer". You will have done your homework. The internet provides you with a wealth of information and most of it is biased toward selling the product. Some products require installation and may be better to buy at a local truck accessory store. Some products are easy to install yourself and some are not. You could end up with a "nightmare installation" and screw something up.
Most truck accessories aren't really that difficult to install and can really make a difference in the looks of your truck. Fender flares, grill guards, billet grills are just a few of the enhancements that can give your Ford pickup "the look".
You maybe wanting to add some "protection" and will find the articles on truck bedliners very informing. There are shipping questions when you are buying online. Is it "UPSable?" is one of the more common questions that need to get answered. A plastic bed liner ... due to its size ... can be VERY EXPENSIVE to ship and you should know about some other options. Always ask if your product can be shipped DHL. This can make quite a difference in what is going to go on your credit card. DHL doesn't have the "girth restrictions" that UPS does and they will ship for a lot less. A tool box for instance can cost over $100 on UPS but with DHL its usually $60. You need to know these things!

Whether its a Dodge, Ford, Chevy, Toyota or Nissan I don't think you can go wrong with an exhaust tip. I tricked my Dodge with about $5000 worth of truck accessories and it wasn't "finished" until I added the stainless exhaust tip. With the stainless rocker panels and the stainless fender trim it just didn't look "done" until the exhaust was added. Diesel exhaust are usually quite large but there are a variety of styles available for the larger pipes. Gibson has some with "flames" and "stars". Rectangular and turn down styles gives your truck that clean custom look.

Well you're doing the "Jeep thing" and you finally get that bass boat you've been waiting for all your life and find You'll need a Jeep Wrangler trailer hitch before you can tow it.
Quality S Mfg. started building receiver hitches about twenty years ago with just four thousand dollars. When you don't have money, you use what you DO have. In their case, it was hard work and sweat. A few of the big named competitors tried to squash their little company, but how do you squash people who listen to their customers and give them what they want: a good quality receiver hitch at a very low price (about 40% below the big names)? Today, Quality S is still a family owned and operated company. Even though they have grown, they haven't lost the spirit that carried them through the lean years. They still provide their customers with high quality products at fair prices.
The Quality S Class III Receiver has been, and still is, the backbone of the company. Over the years, as pickups have changed, so has their Class III Receiver. With their much lighter frames, newer pickups and SUV's require a much bigger, more complicated trailer hitch. Once you get that class III hitch installed there are three more thing you'll need. A ball, a ball mount, and a hitch pin. Balls come in 1 7/8" 2" and 2 5/16". The 2" is the most often used. You have different shaft lengths and diameters to choose from. The most popular ball mount is a steel 2" drop. They are available in 4,6,8,and 10 inch drops. There are a few companies that make them from an aircraft aluminum, The alumistinger ball mount hitch offers boat, ATV, and utility trailer owners the highest quality, greatest strength, and the best looking ball mount hitch available in the hitching industry. What's more, the Alumistingers will NEVER RUST! Because the hitch is constructed from a special aircraft aluminum alloy (the same alloy used for jet aircraft and NASCAR racing frames), there is no need to paint or chrome the surface; for this reason, it can't flake or chip to expose a metal that is susceptible to the effects weather and rust. The paint may be scratched and lower the value of your truck.Bed mats are "truck specific" and come custom fit for your truck. They have the added advantage of being easy on the knees. You may find yourself in a situation where you have to climb around in the back of your truck and will appreciate the rubber under your knees. One of the reasons people pick a mat over a liner is to keep from rubbing the paint off the bed and defeating the whole purpose of "protection". "Billet grills for pickup trucks" is a popular search term as is "billet grilles truck grills" pickup owners use to find information on how to improve the appearance of their truck. Dodge offers a factory billet grill but the spacing between the slats is a little much for me. I like the look of an aftermarket grill. You probably do too. Sometimes you don't want a Ford or Chevy OE look and want to be different. Everybody else has what the factory chooses for you but you don't have to go along with the pack. Don't forget about bumper inserts. Dodge has the holes in the front bumper and this addition creates the finishing touch.
Installation is not as difficult as you might think on a Chevy. There are small tabs welded to the back of the grill and those line up with the factory holes usually in the same place the factory grill was fastened . You wont need a rocket scientist to help ... the directions are very good. This applies to Dodge billet grilles as well. The Fords can be tricky. You actually have to take the grill out and cut out the chrome part of the grill. Its all plastic and we use a jig saw to cut it out and a grinder to touch up the edges. It takes time but ... boy is it worth it! Instant change! Sometimes the billett grilles come where the slats may have gotten bent in shipping but its real easy to bend them back into a uniform spacing.

If you don't think you're handy enough or just don't have the time then maybe you should consider the E-Z Applicade series by Stull. The Stull E-Z Applicade Billet Grills fit over the factory grill and requires no cutting or removing. If you look real close, really close you can see the bolt sleeves that extend from the back of the grill but its really not noticeable. Talk about saving time ... you simply slide it over the top of the existing factory grill and screw about 6 wing nuts on and your done. I used to think "billet grill" was the name of grill design but its actually the name of the type of aluminum they use in aircraft design. Billet aluminum grilles can either be polished to a bright chrome look or brushed which give it a satin look. The polished billet grills are by far the most popular. Love bugs wipe of easily.
